Project Wild

What is Project WILD?

Project WILD is a supplementary interdisciplinary environmental education program for students K-12. Terrestrial Project WILD focuses on wildlife found on land and Aquatic Project WILD looks at aquatic systems.

Who uses Project WILD?

  1. Formal K-12 Teachers, public and private schools
  2. Principals
  3. Curriculum specialists
  4. Title I educators
  5. Girl Scout/Boy Scout leaders
  6. 4-H leaders
  7. Home-schools

Why use Project WILD?

  1. It actually works. In a recent survey, students who participated in 4 Project WILD activities in a year increased their end-of-the-year test scores by 10%!
  2. Teachers find the activities valuable. “The workshops are fun and the activity guide is great!”—Workshop Participant.
  3. NEW! WV Project WILD activities have been correlated to the WV Content Learning Standards in Science and Language Arts. If you are already trained in Project WILD and would like to get this correlation on CD, please contact the state coordinator.

How can I get WILD?

  1. Get at least 10 other people to agree to attend a workshop.
  2. Have a date, time, and location in mind. Most workshops last 5 hours.
  3. Contact the state coordinator artshomo@wvdnr.gov or at 304-558-2771.
  4. There is no fee. All workshop materials and activity guides are provided!
