WV Archery in the Schools - Training

Upcoming Training

  • JBC Archery - Shady Spring (near Beckley)

December 8 & 9, 2009 (registration deadline November 25) (news release)

*To register for training contact Billie Shearer at (304) 558-2771; billieshearer@wvdnr.gov.  (Please indicate if you are a PE instructor or coach. These individuals will receive training placement preference).

*Teachers interested in receiving this training are encouraged to register early - classes will be full.

*This training will cost $25 for all school employees and $50 for non-school employees. This fee will be paid to WV DNR Archery in the Schools Program (via check, money order, or exact currency only) during the first morning of the training.

Archery Training Class

Schools interested in participating in this program are required to receive the archery training (Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) certification) offered by our agency. Courses are scheduled throughout the year at various locations around the state to accommodate everyone. The equipment used for this program is like no other, with only the finest youth bows and targets on the market. Unfortunately, at this time schools participating will be responsible for locating the funds needed to purchase their own equipment (which is around $2,000). However, the DNR is working hard to find additional funding.

                                              Interested in Hosting a Training?

You can host a training by ensuring an adequately-sized facility for three days and free of charge.  You must fill out the BAI Attendee Enrollment Form and email to billieshearer@wvdnr.gov. (form)
