Rules for participation in WV’s Celebration of NHFD’s Trophy Fish Display

  1. To submit a fish for the Trophy Fish Display, the angler who caught the fish must have registered the fish and been accepted into the WV trophy fish citation program prior to Sept 27, 2008. The fish must have been caught in WV waters and according to legal methods and rules under the 2008 fishing regulations.
  2. All entries will be date and time stamped upon arrival and only 25 entries will be accepted. No more than five individuals of any fish species will be displayed. Special consideration will be given to fish mounts of current state records.
  3. A quality photo of the mount must be sent along with the application.
  4. The respective angler or owner of each trophy fish must arrange transportation of his/her trophy to and from the NHFD event at Stonewall Jackson Resort State Park, Lewis County, WV.
  5. Trophy fish mounts may be delivered from 2:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008. Fish mounts will also be accepted from 8:00 to 9:30AM on Sat. Sept. 27, 2008. All display mounts must be removed no later than 5:00PM on Sunday Sept. 28, 2008. ***To be eligible for the prize drawings, each fish entered must be delivered to the display by 9:30AM Sept. 27 and displayed until the closing ceremony concludes (approx 4:00PM ) Sept. 28, 2008.
  6. Each person is limited to one entry in the display and the subsequent prize drawings. Prizes will be selected via a random drawing of display entries.
  7. The NHFD staff will provide a display wall for exhibiting trophy fish and will provide reasonable security and protection for trophy fish mounts on display. However, neither the WV Wildlife Federation, nor the WV DNR will assume responsibility for the damage, loss or theft of any trophy mount. 
  8. All entrants into this year’s WV trophy fish display will be eligible to enter next year’s event. The WV trophy fish display will require a minimum of 15 entries or the exhibit will be canceled.
  9. The WV Wildlife Federation reserves the right to refuse any participant’s trophy fish entry based upon poor sportsmanship, questionable legal status, violation of fair chase, failure to complete the registration form or failure to comply with any of the above rules.
