Coyote Hunting & Calling Seminar

Friday, September 16, 2005 , 5:30 p.m.

Gilmer County Recreation Center , Glenville , WV

 

  The West Virginia Trappers Association (WVTA) and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) will sponsor a coyote hunting and calling seminar Friday, September 16, at the Gilmer County Recreation Center in Glenville , West Virginia .

 

  The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with an introduction by WVDNR Director Frank Jezioro , followed by a coyote biology presentation by WVDNR Biologist Rich Rogers. The seminar will continue with a presentation by Gary Roberson of Burnham Brothers Game Calls of Texas.

 

  Cost for the event is $5, which includes a free ticket for a host of prizes to be given away following the seminar. Prizes include a PreyMaster Digital Game Caller, a Johnny Stewart hand-held call, several cassette calling tapes and a $25 gift certificate from Jerry's Sporting Goods in Weston , WV .

 

  The WVTA will be holding their 37th Annual Convention during the weekend of September 16-18, 2005 , at the Gilmer County Recreation Center . 

  In addition to the coyote seminar, there will be free trapping demonstrations provided both Friday & Saturday by such trapping greats at J. C. Conner, a master coyote and bobcat trapper from Newcomerstown , OH , and master bobcat and beaver trapper Carl Jones of Freeport , OH .  Other demonstrations include a fur market forecast for the coming year, trap modification, fox trapping, snaring, identification of medicinal plants, ginseng harvesting and planting plus more.   All WVTA convention events are free and open to the public.  Guests this year include the WV Wild Turkey Federation, WV Taxidermy Assn., WV Bearhunters Assn., WV Sporting Dog Assn., and the WV Coonhunters Assn. There are 37 confirmed vendors, plus tailgaters.
