North Bend State Park Offers Many Park-with-a-Package Options

North Bend State Park is becoming “the state park-with-a-package.” Like many of West Virginia’s state parks, this family-style park makes an event of overnight stays incorporating an outdoor focus. “There is a little something at North Bend for anyone who enjoys getting outside,” says Kristi Steed, Group Sales Coordinator for North Bend State Park.

Steed’s calls her most recent park-in-a-package “a $99 special,” but what it offers is the relaxed atmosphere of North Bend’s lodge, meals and an opportunity to get outside. The package includes an overnight stay at the lodge, dinner for two, breakfast, and all taxes and gratuities. “It’s a great getaway or escape from November through April and people get a lot for their hard earned bucks,” says Steed.  “This package is popular because it is so affordable and offers a one-night opportunity to get away.”

Other park-in-a-package offers at North Bend include: A Reel Good Fishing Deal in spring of 2009; Pedal & Paddle – A kicked-back adventure featuring biking and canoeing on North Bend Lake; Red, White and Blue Romance; What the Doctor Prescribes (March through May); and year-round honeymoon / anniversary packages. There is always an activity such as canoeing or bike rentals, meals, complimentary baskets or room amenities with each package. Frequently, North Bend also features special event weekends such as New Year’s Eve or dinner theaters.

"The $99 escape package is perfect for those wanting a winter getaway without breaking the budget,” Steed says.

North Bend State Park is located off U.S. Route 50 between Cairo and Harrisville, W.Va.  The 29-room lodge features a full-service restaurant, fireplace, wireless Internet access, and meeting areas. Nine cabins are open year-round and compliment two campgrounds, River Run and Cokeley. North Bend Rail Trail and North Bend Lake are popular areas and encourage biking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. The lake allows limited horsepower and is a good fishing opportunity.

For reservations, call (304) 643-2931 or go online to www.northbendsp.com for package, park and special event information.  For information about package options at all West Virginia state parks, visit www.wvstateparks.com.
