Antiques, street rods and customs rolling toward Valley Falls State Park, Sunday, Aug. 8

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – “No hot asphalt or concrete to stand on.” That’s part of the appeal of this show for people attending the 8th Annual AACA Antique Car Show at Valley Falls State Park, according to Park Supt. Ronnie Fawcett. The state park, located near Fairmont, saw more than 150 antiques, street rods and customs for show in 2009.  “We’d like to have 300 this year, but regardless of the number of vehicles on display, it is a fun day at the park for car owners and park guests alike,” Fawcett said.

The car show opens at noon on Sunday, Aug. 8, and concludes about 4 p.m. There are no charges or entry fees for vehicles and no admission fees to attend and view the cars.  Door prize drawings are conducted during the show hours, but there are no trophies or dash plaques awarded for cars shown.

Fawcett indicates there are several local car enthusiasts that organize the show.  “It’s a great day for antique car owners to get together to share stories and show their pride and joys.”  Attendees are encouraged bring a picnic lunch, to take time to enjoy the view of the falls, and to have a leisurely Sunday at Valley Falls.

Driving directions to Valley Falls:
