The Dog Days of Summer Lodging Discounts Make Cacapon Resort State Park More Attractive than Ever

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. – Cacapon Resort State Park in Morgan County is a special place any time of year, but this month it’s even more attractive because of special “Dog Days of Summer” lodge room rate discounts. The Dog Days of Summer room rate through August is $70, including all taxes, per mid-week night for any room type.

“There isn’t any code or coupon,” explained Cacapon Supt. Tom Ambrose. “The discounted lodge room rate is automatic the full month of August. Additionally, the park offers a Bed and Breakfast package and golf packages. The golf course has daily and twilight hour rates and Wednesday Senior Golf foursome rates. We will begin rate reductions in the park cabins Sept. 7”

“Cacapon Resort State Park edges one of the nation’s most populated areas. Folks from Washington, D.C., Baltimore and much of Virginia seek the calm and relaxed nature of one of West Virginia’s oldest vacation parks. It’s a very special place which many people have found and return time and again,” Ambrose said.

Fun Things to Do at Cacapon Resort State Park

Although the 48-room 1950s style lodge has wireless Internet and today’s conveniences, many guests still prefer to sit on the lodge veranda to enjoy the scenery or to play cards in the lodge lobby. The Robert Trent Jones, Sr., golf course is an area favorite as well as an attractive golf stop for Canadian travelers. Horseback riding, the Cacapon restaurant, hiking trails and interpretative activities remain popular regardless of the generation or decade.

“I’m seeing guests looking for downtime,” Ambrose said. “Having an opportunity to sit and relax as an individual or with family and friends or doing something outdoors has been and continues to be found here at Cacapon.”

Ambrose and the staff at Cacapon see a change in vacation patterns.  “People are calling about shorter vacations or retreats or looking to beat the Labor Day weekend rush. We also know school calendar changes redirect the flow of people to the park for day or overnight use in August, particularly.  Cacapon is adjusting August room rates to accommodate guest interests with affordability.”

Cacapon Resort State Park is located on US 522 near Berkeley Springs. For park information or Dog Days of Summer reservations, call 304-258-1022 or visit the park website, www.cacaponresort.com.
