Fundamentals of Fly Fishing Finale at Holly River Aug. 27HACKER VALLEY, W.Va. – The fly fishing series grand finale at Holly River State Park features Dave Breitmeir and Sam Knotts. Breitmeir from Elk Springs Resort and Knotts, owner of Appalachian Flyfishing Guide Service will be discussing equipment, insect life and matching the hatch, and doing casting instruction in the meadow at the Windy Gap School. This festival of fly fishing will start at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27. “Having two of the most respected guides in West Virginia at one venue at the same time makes this a rare opportunity for the seasoned angler as well as neophytes and the curious,” according to Biff Healy, summer naturalist at Holly River. There is no charge to attend and the program is open to the public. Holly River State Park is located in Hacker Valley in Webster County. The park features vacation cabins and camping in addition to trails, swimming, fishing and outdoor activities. The park restaurant is open and was recognized as one of West Virginia’s 101 Unique Places to Dine in 2009.
