CC Booker III perform at Stonewall Resort and Tygart Lake state parks August 24 and 25

            ROANOKE and GRAFTON, W.Va. – A new jazz band, CC Booker III, will perform August 24 at Stonewall Resort State Park and August 25 at Tygart Lake State Park. The band features Will Scruggs and a SoulJazz tribute to the music of three great artists: Ray Charles, King Curtis, and Booker T and the MGs. “A tenor saxophone, the super funk of the Hammond B3 organ combined with southern sound blended with sophisticated New York jazz stylings bring great jazz music to West Virginia,” said Stephanie Bailey at Tygart Lake State Park. 

Stonewall Resort State Park – August 24

            C.C. Booker III, known as “Atlanta’s Soul Jazz Legend,” will headline the show in Stonewall Ballroom on Friday, August 24 at 8 p.m. Blues singer Rachael Franks with Osmosis is staged from 5 – 7 p.m. on the Adler Patio and the show will be open to the public. Enjoy C.C. Booker III, a delicious meal and overnight lodge accommodations starting at $209/person. A Saturday morning jazz program is also planned. Tygart Lake State Park – August 25

            Tygart Lake State Park lodge is the venue for C.C. Booker III August 25 from 9 – 11 p.m. in the lodge lobby. The evening is presented by Tygart Lake State Park and the Boston Beanery restaurant in cooperation with the West Virginia Jazz Society.  “There is no admission charge to listen to outstanding jazz music, but attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to food panties in Taylor County,” said Stephanie Bailey, activities coordinator. The Boston Beanery is open and at Tygart Lake Lodge. For additional information about the Tygart Lake performance or park lodge and cabin information, call 304-265-6144.
