“The History of Bathrooms…. From Ancient Times to the 21st-Century” Takes a Peek at into Privy Evolution Saturday, April 20, 1 p.m.  Blennerhassett Museum, Parkersburg

            PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – The “History of Bathrooms…From Ancient Times to the 21st Century” will be presented by Dr. Ray Swick, West Virginia State Parks historian, on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1 p.m.  Dr. Swick’s program will repeat on July 20.

            The talk is being held in conjunction with a popular exhibit now on display at the Blennerhassett Island Museum of Regional History. “Behind Closed Doors – American Bathrooms Through the Ages,” will be on display through December 2013. The exhibit collection features artifacts dating back to the 18th century.

            General admission to the museum is $4 for adults and $2 for children (ages 3-12) and includes a tour of the exhibit following the program and enjoying other areas of the museum and gift shop.

            The Blennerhassett Museum is a year-round facility that features three floors of exhibits and covers pre-history to 20th century relics. The museum, located on the corner of 2nd street and Juliana Street in downtown Parkersburg, is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m.to  5 p.m. For events and activities at the museum and on Blennerhassett Island in 2013, find information at www.blennerhassettislandstateparks.com or contact the museum at 304-420-4800.
