Remote Control Aircraft Event at Hawks Nest State Park May 18, 2013

            ANSTED, W.Va. – Airplanes and helicopters will be flying at Hawks Nest State Park, Saturday May 18, but they will be the remote controlled kind.  The remote control aircraft event is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The remote control aircraft event is free to the public.

            “Members of the Beckley Model Airplane Club (BMAC) will launch and fly electric airplanes and helicopters on the front lawn,” according to Renee Harper, Group Services Coordinator at this Fayette county destination. In addition, the model airplane club will display various large runway aircraft. 

            Hawks Nest State Park’s aerial tram ride and New River Jet Boats are operating. The tramway hours are 11 a.m. – 6:45 p.m. and the tram only fee is $4 adults, $3 senior rate and $2.50 for children. The New River Jet Boats trips depart from the marina.  A tram and jet boat ride combo is $25 adults, $23, seniors (age 60 and older) and $10 children ages 5-16.
