WV State Parks offer special events in late August, 2013
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. – There’s still a lot of summer to enjoy, and many activities are available in late August at West Virginia’s state parks. While most activities are free of charge, some have modest fees and all are open to the public.
Cass Scenic Railroad features bluegrass music, daily trips and a Lunar Run

Pullman Road performs at North Bend State Park August 18
Pullman Road Band is a three-piece local band that mixes folk with soft rock for a sound that is truly unique. In addition to covering some of your favorite tunes, this group also has several original songs that are especially entertaining and amusing. Pullman Road will perform at North Bend amphitheater at 7 p.m. on August 18. Other activities are scheduled in August, such as hikes, bug identification, and crafts at North Bend State Park on www.northbendsp.com.
"Wings of Wonder" - Birds of Prey at Cacapon Resort State Park August 17
A birds of prey program will be presented by the Three Rivers Avian Center of Brooks, W.Va., at Cacapon Resort State Park on August 17 at 7 p.m. Open to the public, the live bird presentation includes owls, hawks and eagles. You’ll learn about the habitat, diet and behavior of each bird presented, the most common causes of injury to each species, and the laws protecting these special birds. Fireworks at Parkersburg’s Homecoming August 17
Fireworks at Parkersburg’s Homecoming Weekend are wonderful evening activities for family and friends to attend. Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park offers two ways to watch the night sky firework activities on August 17.
Berkeley Springs Music and Art
In West Virginia’s eastern panhandle, enjoy the Daryl Davis Band on August 17 and Art in the Park on August 18 at Berkeley Springs State Park. Both events are open to the public and without charge. Get more information at www.berkeleyspringsp.com.

Rhythm & Blues, Rock! Daryl Davis is a smokin’ hot boogie woogie keyboard player as well as a vocalist, guitarist and composer at Berkeley Springs State Park. An international recording artist, published author, actor and band leader, he showcases impressive keyboard work as well as strong vocals in his four-person band. In its seventh year, Art in the Park provides access to fine artists located in the Berkeley Springs region. Nationally known artists exhibit at this event and the best part is - they are local.
