Winners of First Sporting Clay Shoot-out at Canaan Valley Resort State Park Announced
DAVIS, W.Va. – The first Sporting Clay Shoot-out competition recently held at Canaan Valley Resort State Park’s new sporting clay shooting range produced three winners. The competitors tested their skills on the five-stand sporting clay course. Event winners are: First Place, Anthony Schrock; Second Place, Dale Paugh; and Third Place, Larry Beard.
The competition was held over Labor Day weekend. Canaan Valley officials plan to make the Shoot-out an annual event.
“Canaan Valley Resort has had great success with this newest addition to its many summer activities since the opening of the sporting clay target field this past Memorial Day weekend,” said Division of Natural Resources director Frank Jezioro.
The sport is open to men, women and children (ages 12 and older). A safety lesson on handling and shooting of the gun is included prior to each round. One round includes 25 shots (five at each station). Guests may bring their own guns and ammo (certain restrictions apply), or the resort will furnish a gun, ammo, clay targets, protective eye/ear wear and a shooting vest at a charge of $25 (per round).
The target field at Canaan Valley Resort is open Wednesday – Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. with evening appointments available upon request. Monday and Tuesday appointments also are available with 24 hour advance reservations. For more information, call 304-866-4121 x2691 or visit www.canaanresort.com
