Public Employees Golf Tournament May 19, 2014, Twin Falls State Park Register by May 15

MULLENS, W.Va. - The 23rd annual West Virginia Public Employees Golf Tournament is scheduled at Twin Falls Resort State Park Monday, May 19, 2014, and is open to current and retired federal, state and county employees. Preregistration is necessary by noon, May 15, 2014. The tournament is limited to 108 players, so early registration is encouraged.

A practice round is available Sunday, May 18 (call 304-294-4044 to schedule a tee time). The tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Prizes will be awarded in both Men's and Women's Division Low Gross and Low Net (Callaway Scoring system), closest to the pin, long drive, long putt and optional Skins Game, plus door prizes.

Twin Falls Golf Professional Brian Wetzel indicates the course at Twin Falls can make a novice golfer play great and can humble great golfers. "It's an every-man or -woman's course to challenge. The pace of play at Twin Falls is moderate and allows golfers enough time to play the game but also time to take in some absolutely beautiful surroundings."

The Tournament cost is $50 and includes green fee, shared cart and cookout. Sunday's practice round is $20. Participants can make lodging reservations for one or more nights by calling 304-294-4000 and asking for the WVPEGT discount. Room rates are $60 per room based on double occupancy.

The tournament will be held rain or shine. Visit online for tournament information and the registration form. Find complete details and download the registration form at www.twinfallsresort.com/WVPEGT.pdf or call 304-294-4000.

Twin Falls State Park is located in Wyoming County between Mullens and Pineville. The park features a Par 71 championship course as well as a 47-room lodge with fitness center and indoor pool, 14 vacation cottages and a 50-site campground. Noted for extensive watchable wildlife, the golf course is situated in a lush valley with the Black Fork stream meandering throughout the course. The original nine-hole course opened in the late 1960s and was designed by Geoffrey Cornish.  The course was expanded to 18-holes in the mid-'80s following a George Cobb design plan. Signature holes include an elevated tee on Hole 4 and picturesque tees with rock outcroppings on Hole 14, yielding an expansive view of the back nine layout.
