10th annual Engines & Wheels Festival North Bend State Park, May 3, 2014

CAIRO, W.Va. – Visit an old-fashioned turn-of-the-century oil field and industrial and farm machinery at North Bend State Park's 10th annual Antique Engines & Wheels Weekend, Saturday, May 3.  Visitors can see and learn how these engines, wheels and antique machinery became the workhorses of a generation, fulfilling the demands of a growing nation.

Old-time engines, tractors and antique cars will start rolling in at 8 a.m. and be on exhibit until 6 p.m. at the Jughandle day-use area of the park. Local engine and wheel enthusiasts will be on hand, sharing their knowledge of equipment and the mechanisms that make them work. The event is free with plenty of free parking.

Fred Steed, chairman of the 2014 event, invites participants as well as spectators.

"There is still room, so if you have an engine, tractor or car, dust it off and bring it out for the day." Crafters also are invited and should register with North Bend State Park at 304-643-2931.

Other events for the day include a live radio remote from 93R (WRRR-FM), free blood pressure checks from the Ritchie County EMS, face painting and balloon art. An outdoor grill concession stand will be hosted by the Cairo Climbers 4-H Club. The Ritchie County Car Club will also be in attendance from noon until 3 p.m.

For more information about the Engines & Wheels Festival, contact Fred Steed at 304-628-3396, Clifford Deem at 304-643-4254 or Dave Wilson at 304-628-3587.
