Mountain Heritage and Wine Festival at Stonewall Resort June 14

ROANOKE, West Virginia – Arts and crafts enthusiasts, wine lovers and those interested in West Virginia and Appalachian culture are invited to attend the Mountain Heritage and Wine Festival at Stonewall Resort State Park Saturday, June 14, 2014.

Mike Hager, general manager of Stonewall Resort, said, "We are fortunate to live in such a culturally rich state and region and we will be showcasing some of the best examples of Appalachian arts, crafts, food, wine and music at the Mountain Heritage and Wine Festival."

The event will be held at the Roanoke Activity Plaza June 14 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Guests can leisurely shop the products of 50 West Virginia arts and crafts vendors throughout the afternoon and early evening while sampling wine and food and listening to the music of three live bands, including Johnny Bryan (1 to 3 p.m.), Kaitlin Boytek (4 to 5:30 p.m.) and The Joseph Sisters (6:30 to 8 p.m.).

The Mountain Heritage and Wine Festival is co-sponsored by the Stonewall State Park Foundation and Lambert's Winery, with support from the Lewis County Convention & Visitors Bureau. The event will showcase eight West Virginia wineries in Lambert's Wine Garden. Forks of Cheat Winery, Wine Tree Vineyards, Vu Ja De Vineyards, Lambert's Vintage Wine, Heston Farm Winery, West-Whitehill Winery, Chestnut Ridge Winery and Cascarelli's Old Country Wine will all be on-site, offering their best wines for sampling.

There is a $10 entry fee to the Lambert's Wine Garden for adults 21 and older, which entitles guests to wine sampling, a souvenir wine glass and a corkscrew. For more information about Lambert's Wine Garden, call 304-269-4903.

Other activities will include a barnyard animal petting zoo, face painting, mini-golf, disc golf, arcade games, a rock wall and more. There also will be a number of food vendors on-site, so attendees can plan to spend the entire day.

For guests staying overnight at the resort, Little Sorrel, the resort's excursion boat, will offer tours of Stonewall Jackson Lake throughout the weekend. Canoes and kayaks are available and offer a great way to explore the lake or do some fishing.

The Palmer Signature Golf Course, ranked as one of the best golf courses in the country, has tee times available; however, guests should call in advance to make reservations.

There is a $5 per car fee to enter Stonewall Resort Saturday, June 14.  For additional information or reservations, contact Stonewall Resort at 304-269-7400 or visit the website at www.StonewallResort.com.
