June 19, 2014 - Thursday Evening Pickin'

June 20, 2014 - "The Mountain and other Legends from Around Pipestem"

Gale Buck shared the stories and music of the Great Highland Bagpipes in schools around his home in North Carolina but it was not until he told about the Magic of Christmas that he was called "Storyteller." Author of more than 200 short stories and two published books, Gale is now an avid storyteller and promoter of the vocal art. Gale and his wife, Christy, enjoy traveling to festivals and helping others find the magic in our lives. Gale is co-founder of Village Storytellers, a casual group of folks who enjoy improving their skills in Raleigh, North Carolina, and creator of Front Porch Stories, a quarterly storytelling event in Raleigh. Stories told this evening will include Frogbiters, How The Clouds Came Back, Mountain Trolls, Miranda's Kiss, Mall Santas, The Red Balloon, The Stowaway, or The Elf Who Borrowed Santa's Sleigh. Show begins at 8 p.m. at the Pipestem Outdoor Amphitheater and admission is free.

Valley Bluegrass Band plays bluegrass music at its finest. Featuring Larry Cox on guitar and vocal; Eddie Cales, one of the best traditional bluegrass dobro players in West Virginia; Tommy Crigger on bass and backup vocals; and Tim York on banjo and guitar and vocals.
