“Hairspray” at Chief Logan State Park’s Liz Spurlock Amphitheater in June

LOGAN, W.Va. – The Aracoma Story Inc. will kick off its “Live in the Park” summer series at Chief Logan State Park in June with a production of the musical "Hairspray." Performed at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater, the production is the first of two The Aracoma Story Inc will produce this summer.

“Hairspray,” winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, is a family friendly musical, filled with laughter, romance and deliriously tuneful songs.

Set in 1962 in Baltimore, “Hairspray” is about a lovable plus-size teen, Tracy Turnblad, who has only one desire — to dance on the popular "Corny Collins Show." When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She must use her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob, Link Larkin and integrate a TV network — all without denting her 'do!

Hairspray will run June 8-11 and June 15-18. This year’s second show will be “Grease,” with dates to be announced in August. All shows start at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2930869. The Aracoma Story Inc. maintains a Facebook page www.facebook.com/thearacomastory for show details and information.
