Tygart Lake and Marina improvements nearing completion

GRAFTON, W.Va. — Expansion projects at Tygart Lake State Park’s marina are nearing completion and visitors will soon be able to enjoy improved parking and boat launches, as well as new courtesy docks.

“This project has been a major undertaking,” said Park Superintendent Jim Browning. “We’re asking our guests to be patient as we finish these improvements. These improvements will be a homerun for our park, our lake and marina users.”

Park staff would like to remind visitors at Tygart Lake State Park parking will be limited until the project is complete and that there may be long wait times to launch or retrieve boats. Browning recommends mid-week visits when traffic is slower. Boaters also are encouraged to use Pleasant Creek as an alternative launch site.

During this last phase of construction, the one-way traffic pattern at marina road will be changed to two-way, which limits the parking area. Motorists should observe “No Parking” signage to reduce bottlenecks of traffic. Law enforcement will be on-hand until the project is completed to make sure traffic lanes are open, vehicles are moving and visitors and employees remain safe. Browning and park officials say the traffic flow pattern will be enforced until the project is completed.

“We appreciate everyone’s understanding and patience,” Browning said. “When the work is finished, there will be better accessibility, parking and boat launchings.”
