Description |
The lake was built in 1999 with a maximum depth of 11 feet and an average depth of 4 feet. In addition to a good source of spring water, the pond also receives water via a pipe from the adjacent Tuscarora Creek. Parking is located near the lake and a path around the pond provides good bank fishing access. A wooden pier is wheelchair accessible, portable toilets are present, and a picnic shelter is located nearby. Boating, camping, night fishing, and the use of live minnows as bait are prohibited.

Fishery |
Poorhouse Pond was stocked with fingerling largemouth bass and channel catfish and adult sunfish and crappie in 1999. Monthly trout stockings (Feb.-May) began at the pond in 2002. Some trout probably survive through the summer in the deeper spring-fed water of the pond. Triploid grass carp have been stocked for vegetation control.
