Summit Lake

  Lake  Summit Lake 

  Acres  43 

  Directions  Summit Lake is a 43-acre impoundment in Greenbrier County, located 10 miles east of Richwood in the Monongahela National Forest. It is accessible from both Richwood and Mill Point by WV Route 39. County Route 39/5 provides the last 2.2 miles to the lake. 

  Description  The lake was built in 1955 with a maximum depth of 20 feet and an average depth of 10 feet. A graveled boat ramp and two fishing platforms are available at the lake. Electric motors only are allowed and fishing with live minnows is prohibited. A 17-unit standard campground is available for tent campers and self-contained trailers on a first come, first served basis. 

  Fishery  Summit Lake provides a trout fishery, and warmwater fishing for largemouth bass and bluegill. Trout are stocked each week April through May and twice in October. Limited trout may survive through the warm summer months. Each year the tributaries of this lake are buffered using limestone fines to raise the pH prior to the spring trout stocking.

  Camping  Camping permit required from area manager 

  Spring Trout  Stocked once in January, twice in February, and weekly March through May 

  Fall Trout  Stocked twice in October 

  Live Minnows  Live minnows may not be used as bait 

  Night Fishing  Night fishing is allowed
