Trout Pond is located in the George Washington National Forest in Hardy County, 6 miles east of Lost River and 13 miles southwest of Wardensville. It is accessible from Lost River by County Route 259/5 and from Wardensville via County Routes 23/10 and 259/5.

Description |
Located in a limestone sink at an elevation of 1,930 feet, this 1.5-acre body of water is known as West Virginia’s only natural lake. As part of the Trout Pond Recreation Area, Trout Pond is approximately 900 feet upstream from Rock Cliff Lake. It has a maximum depth of 36 feet and an average depth of 12 feet. Restroom facilities and tent and trailer camping sites are available (see Rock Cliff Lake for details). No boats are allowed.

Fishery |
Trout Pond essentially provides fishing for stocked trout. It receives the first spring stocking just prior to April 15, is stocked bi-weekly through May, and receives fall stockings during the second and third week of October. Located in the recreation complex, Trout Pond receives heavy fishing pressure.
