Moncove Lake is a 144-acre impoundment in Monroe County located on the 895-acre Moncove Lake Wildlife Management Area 6 miles northeast of Gap Mills. It is accessible from Gap Mills by County Routes 8 and 8/2.

Description |
The lake was built in 1959 with a maximum depth of 20 feet and an average depth of 10 feet. A paved road with ample parking parallels the majority of the lake with the remainder of the shoreline accessible by a graveled road. A graveled boat ramp, boat rental, flush toilets, bathhouse facilities, drinking water, swimming, and 30 combination trailer and tent camping sites are available. Boat motors are limited to a 5hp maximum and other special regulations are posted on the area. The camping season runs nearly year round; however, recreational facilities operate only from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Campsites are rented on a first come, first basis.

Fishery |
Moncove Lake provides a warmwater fisher for largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish. Several trophy-sized largemouth bass have been taken from Moncove Lake on deep running lures in late spring and early fall. Fishing for channel catfish is excellent, with catfish in the 8 to 10 pound class reported.
