  • A first either sex deer must be taken on a valid base license or license combination, free license, resident underage or by a resident landowner hunting on his/her own land.
  • Two additional deer (one must be antlerless) may be taken on Class RB or RRB stamps (one deer per stamp) or by a resident landowner
    using those privileges.

McClintic WMA

Bluestone Lake WMA

All regulations are the same as private land in the respective counties where the WMAs are located except: all antlered deer taken must have a minimum 14” outside antler spread. The annual bag limit for antlered deer in Buck Gun, Archery and Muzzleloader Seasons combined is one deer. The Antlerless Season is 20 days, November 26 – December 13 and December 24-27 and the season bag limit is one deer. Class RM and RRM muzzleloader stamps are only valid for antlered deer.

Beech Fork Lake WMA

All regulations are the same as private land north of State Rt. 37 in Wayne County where the WMA is located except: all antlered deer taken must have a minimum 14” outside antler spread. The annual bag limit for antlered deer in Buck Gun, Archery and Muzzleloader Seasons combined is one deer. The Antlerless Season is 20 days, November 26 – December 13 and December 24-27 and the season bag limit is one deer. Class RM and RRM muzzleloader stamps are only valid for antlered deer.

Beury Mountain WMA

Tate Lohr WMA

All regulations are the same as private land in that portion of the respective counties open to Antlerless Season where the WMAs are located except: the Antlerless Season is 20 days, November 26 – December 13 and December 24-27, and the season bag limit is one deer. Class RM and RRM muzzleloader stamps are only valid for antlered deer.

Burnsville Lake WMA

All regulations are the same as private land in Braxton County except: all antlered deer taken must have a minimum 14” outside antler spread. The annual bag limit for antlered deer in Buck Gun, Archery and Muzzleloader Seasons combined is one deer. The Antlerless Season is limited to West Virginia residents and is 20 days, November 26 – December 13 and December 24-27. Prior application is required and the season bag limit is one deer.

Stonecoal Lake WMA

All regulations are the same as private land in Lewis County except: the Antlerless Season is limited to West Virginia residents and is 20 days, November 26-December 13 and December 24-27. Prior application is required and the season bag limit is one deer. The Special Split Youth/Class Q/QQ deer season is not open. Class RM and RRM muzzleloader stamps are only valid for antlered deer.

Coopers Rock Sate Forest

All regulations are the same as private land in the counties where the State Forest is located except: all antlered deer taken must have a minimum 14” outside antler spread. The annual bag limit for antlered deer in Buck Gun, Archery and Muzzleloader Seasons combined is one deer. The Special Split Youth/Class Q/QQ deer season is not open. The Antlerless Season is 20 days, November 26-December 13 and December 24-27, and the season bag limit is one deer. Class RM and RRM muzzleloader stamps are only valid for antlered deer.

Amherst/Plymouth WMA

Cross Creek WMA

Stonewall Jackson Lake WMA

All regulations are the same as private land in the respective county where the WMAs are located except: the Antlerless Season is limited to West Virginia residents and is 20 days, November 26 – December 13 and December 24-27. Prior application is required and the season bag limit is one deer. Class RM and RRM muzzleloader stamps are only valid for antlered deer.

Hillcrest WMA

All regulations are the same as private land in Hancock County except: Buck Gun Season is closed. This area has a Special Muzzleloader Deer Season from November 24 – December 6 and during this period only muzzleloaders may be used for hunting deer on the area. All Muzzleloader Season stamp requirements apply. The annual antlered deer bag limit for Archery and Muzzleloader seasons combined is one deer. The Antlerless Season is limited to West Virginia residents and is 20 days, November 26-December 13 and December 24-27. Prior application is required and the Antlerless Season bag limit is one deer. The Special Split Youth/Class Q/QQ deer season is not open. Class RM and RRM muzzleloader stamps are only valid for antlered deer.

Wilson Cove Deer Study Area

All regulations are the same as private land in Hardy County except: Buck Gun Season is closed. This area has a Special Muzzleloader Deer Season from November 24 – December 6 and during this period only muzzloaders may be used for hunting deer on the area. All Muzzleloader Season stamp requirements apply. The annual antlered deer bag limit for Archery and Muzzleloader Seasons combined is one deer. The Antlerless Season is 20 days, November 26-December 13 and December 24-27.

Elk River WMA

Potts Creek WMA
(Jefferson National Forest)

Wallback WMA

All regulations are the same as private land in the respective counties where the WMAs are located except: the Archery Season bag limit is two deer. The Antlerless Season and the Special Split Youth/Class Q/Q deer seasons are not open. Muzzleloader hunting is restricted to antlered deer only. Class RM and RRM muzzleloader stamps are only valid for antlered deer.

Greenbottom WMA All regulations are the same as private land in Cabell County except: Deer may only be hunted with bows or muzzleloaders and the Antlerless Season is 20 days, November 26 – December 13 and December 24-27.

Edwards Run WMA

Fort Mill Ridge WMA

Nathaniel Mountain WMA

Short Mountain WMA

All regulations are the same as private land in Hampshire County except: the Antlerless Season is split with two days on October 31-November 1, 16 days on November 26-December 13 and four days on December 24-27 for a total of 22 days. The bag limit is four antlerless deer, only one of which may be taken in the October 31 – November 1 portion of the season.
All other WMAs and other Public Lands All regulations are the same as private land in the respective counties where the WMAs or other public lands are located except: in counties having an Antlerless Season, the Antlerless Season on WMAs and other public lands is 20 days, November 26 – December 13 and December 24-27. The Special Split Youth/Class Q/QQ deer season is only open on those areas specified on page 27.
