Registration Requirements.

All boats propelled by an electrical, steam, gas, diesel or other fuel propelled or driven motor, whether or not the motor is the principal source of propulsion, must be registered through the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV). However, beginning on the first day of April, 2000, the fee for a three-year registration will be as follows:

Class A Motorboats - $30.00

Class 1 Motorboats - $45.00

Class 2 Motorboats - $60.00

Class 3 Motorboats - $75.00

There is NO FEE for registering a motorboat that is propelled by a motor of less than three horsepower or less than 70 lbs. thrust.

Registration forms are available through any State Police or DMV Office.
