Policy changes and guidelines for hunters and anglers

To protect employees as well as hunters and anglers during the COVID-19 outbreak, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources has implemented several policy changes to mitigate the spread of the virus while continuing to provide safe public services.

WMA, State Park and Facility Closures

To help protect the public and staff, the following facility closures and service changes have been made:

Wildlife Management Areas

WMA Campgrounds have followed the same reopening protocols as State Parks campgrounds and are currently open. State guidelines can be found here.

To mitigate potential spread of the virus, only registered guests will be allowed in the campground.

DNR District Offices

DNR district and administrative offices around the state are closed to the public but remain operational. Offices are maintaining personnel from each DNR section to ensure there are no disruptions in service. If you have questions, please call your district office. Click here for a directory.

Hunter Education Classes

In-person Hunter Education classes were permitted to begin on June 1, 2020

If a hunter education class was completed online, alternative delivery classes are being scheduled at all District Offices through the HE event manager website.

Online courses are available for a fee through the following affiliates.

These measures have been taken to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in West Virginia. For more information about the virus and public health guidelines for preventing its spread, visit www.dhhr.wv.gov/covid-19.
