Laurel Lake is a 29-acre impoundment on Laurel Lake Wildlife Management Area (13,000 acres) in Mingo County, 1.5 miles southeast of Dingess and 7 miles northwest of Lenore. It is accessible from Dingess and Lenore by County Route 3/5.

Description |
The lake was built in 1960 with a maximum depth of 30 feet and an average depth of 10 feet. A gravel boat ramp, pit toilets, swimming pool, bathhouse facilities, drinking water, picnic tables, grills, and a 25-unit campground are available. A trail surrounding the lake provides bank fishing access. Electric motors only are allowed and the use of live minnows as bait is prohibited. Excessive sedimentation has impacted the upper 1/3 of the lake.

Fishery |
Laurel Lake provides a warmwater fishery for sunfish, largemouth bass, and channel catfish. Trout are stocked once each month February through May. Adult channel catfish are stocked each year in June. Night fishing using worms or chicken liver is a popular method for taking channel catfish. Fish attractors have been placed in the lake and their locations are designated with signs on shore.
