Watoga Lake

  Lake  Watoga Lake 

  Acres  11 

  Directions  Watoga Lake is an 11-acre impoundment part of Watoga State Park in Pocahontas County. It is located 3.5 miles east of Seebert on County Route 21/3. 

  Description  This lake was built in 1933 with a maximum depth of 20 feet and an average depth of 10 feet. A gravel boat launch ramp is available and rowboats, canoes and kayaks may be rented at the lake. Gasoline boat motors, use of live minnows for bait, and swimming are prohibited. Although camping is not permitted at the lake itself, 34 cabins and 3 campgrounds are within the park area. Fifty camping sites with bathhouse facilities and electric hook-ups remain open from the first of April until the first week of December. Thirty-eight sites with modern facilities remain open from May 1 through October 31 and 10 primitive camping sites are open year-round. Forty miles of hiking trails are available on the park. 

  Fishery  Trout survive in the lake through the summer and provide Fall and Winter fishing opportunities. Catfish, largemouth bass and bluegill provide the bulk of the summer fishery.

  Boating  Electric motors only 

  Camping  Camping permit required from area manager 

  Spring Trout   

  Fall Trout  Does not receive Fall trout stocking 

  Live Minnows  Live minnows may not be used as bait 

  Night Fishing  Night fishing is allowed
